Work on building these skills to become a specialist. The more knowledgeable and skilful you become in a particular area, the more likely you are to be noticed for your work.<\/p> Remember that organizations also tend to look for people with “soft skills” \u2013 non-technical skills such as creative thinking<\/a>, emotional intelligence<\/a>, and conflict resolution<\/a>. These are often as important as professional expertise. If you’re thinking about becoming a specialist in a certain area, don’t forget these important skills. Helping your boss resolve a major conflict within your team will get you noticed just as much as delivering a great presentation or sales report.<\/p>\n\n It can be easy to stay in the background and keep your head down. But to get noticed, you’ll need to take yourself out of the shadows.<\/p> A simple way to start is by making a conscious effort to talk more in meetings and on digital communications channels. Developing a reputation as an innovator or creative thinker<\/a> can be valuable. So try to get assigned to projects where these skills are valued.<\/p> As you take on more responsibilities, make sure that you continue to do the core parts of your job well. If you fail to do this, you’ll get noticed \u2013 but for all the wrong reasons!<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n When you’re working hard, it’s easy to forget some of your achievements over the past six to 12 months.<\/p> Keep track of all your accomplishments within the organization.
